About the Ville Top Memorial Foundation

The foundation is based in Malmö, Sweden. The foundation is led by a board of directors with the assistance of an artistic council, which acts in an advisory capacity and assists the board in evaluating applications for grants to promote the foundation's objectives.

About Ville Tops

Ville Tops, born on September 21, 1929, in Tallinn, was an Estonian citizen who became a Swedish citizen after seeking asylum here during World War II. He was a highly regarded artist in both Sweden and Estonia with a passion for graphic art and painting. Some of his works are or have been exhibited at the Tartu Art Museum, the Kumu Art Museum, and the Estonian Art Museum.

Ville Tops chose to bequeath money to a foundation promoting the development of young Estonian artists.

Would you like to apply for a scholarship?

The foundation offers opportunities for young Estonian artists to receive scholarships or participate in unique projects that strengthen their artistic development, as well as financial assistance for schools.

Who can apply?

Young people (aged 15 to 24): Estonian youth can apply for scholarships in accordance with the foundation's objectives. Such scholarships can amount to a maximum of SEK 100,000. Applications can be submitted throughout the year. Decisions on scholarships are made at the beginning of each calendar year and applicants are notified by March 30 at the latest. In special cases, decisions may be made and scholarships awarded outside these parameters. Applications are sent by email.

Museums in Tallinn and Tartu: These museums can apply for support to organize artistic projects. The application and description of the project should be emailed to the foundation. These applications are processed on an ongoing basis.

Schools in Estonia: Schools can apply for grants to promote teaching, including materials, in subjects such as art or other artistic subjects.
